Position Summary The
Patient Flow Administrator (RN)
plays a critical role in managing and optimizing patient movement throughout the hospital. This position ensures safe, efficient, and timely admission, transfer, and discharge processes to support quality patient care and maximize bed utilization. The role requires a dynamic and organized Registered Nurse who thrives in a fast‑paced behavioral healthcare environment and demonstrates exceptional communication, collaboration, and clinical decision‑making skills.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily patient census and coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges to maintain optimal patient flow and bed utilization.
Collaborate with community partners, intake, nursing, clinical, and medical teams to ensure smooth transitions of care.
Evaluate clinical acuity and staffing levels to align patient placement with appropriate care resources.
Serve as the central liaison for patient flow coordination between departments and leadership.
Monitor and analyze patient flow data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
Support regulatory compliance and quality assurance standards related to patient care and hospital operations.
Act as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff in decision‑making related to patient placement and acuity management.
Participate in hospital‑wide initiatives related to throughput, safety, and performance improvement.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) – current and active license in the State of Florida.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Master’s degree a plus.
Minimum 3 years of experience in inpatient behavioral health or acute care nursing required.
Prior experience in admissions coordination, bed management, or patient flow operations strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of behavioral health acuity, safety protocols, and regulatory standards (Joint Commission, CMS, etc.).
Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
Proficiency in EMR systems and data tracking tools.
