Job Overview
The Night Supervisor is responsible for overseeing overnight hotel operations, ensuring accurate completion of the night audit, and maintaining exceptional guest service during night hours. This role serves as the primary on-site leader overnight, handling financial reconciliation, guest relations, safety and security, and operational continuity, ensuring compliance with brand standards while preparing the hotel for a smooth transition to the morning shift.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform nightly financial reconciliation and audit of all hotel transactions
Oversee and complete the Night Audit process, ensuring accuracy of guest folios, room charges, tax postings, payments, and account balances
Verify, balance, and secure daily cash, credit card, and direct bill transactions; investigate and resolve discrepancies
Prepare, review, and distribute all required night audit and reports for management review
Supervise overnight front desk operations, ensuring smooth and efficient guest service during night hours
Handle guest check-ins, check-outs, room assignments, and special requests with a high level of professionalism
Serve as the primary point of contact for guest concerns, service recovery, and escalated issues
Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, security incidents, and guest safety concerns
Monitor hotel security systems, public areas, and front desk activity to ensure a safe and secure environment
Manage incoming phone calls, guest communications, and internal requests during overnight operations
Post room charges, process billing adjustments, and ensure accurate guest account documentation
Update, maintain, and audit guest reservation systems and property management systems
Ensure compliance with Marriott brand standards, hotel policies, and audit procedures
Begin preparation of AM Checklist items prior to the arrival of morning staff to ensure seamless shift transition
Communicate overnight issues, maintenance concerns, guest feedback, and operational notes to management and AM staff
Train, guide, and support overnight front desk staff as needed; provide leadership in the absence of management
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk and lobby area at all times
Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, and security departments regarding overnight needs or issues
Ensure accurate logbook entries and shift reports are completed before end of shift
Perform other duties as assigned by Management
Qualifications and Requirements Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in hospitality, business, or accounting preferred
Previous front desk or night audit experience in a hotel environment required
Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred
Familiarity with hotel property management systems and basic accounting procedures
Required Skills / Abilities
Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately complete night audit and financial reconciliation
Excellent guest service and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to lead overnight operations independently and make sound decisions
Proficiency with hotel property management systems and night audit software
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to handle guest concerns, emergencies, and service recovery calmly and professionally
Basic accounting and cash-handling skills
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work overnight shifts
Schedule The work schedule is based on the demands of the business you must be available days, nights, weekends, and / or holiday availability are required.
Physical, Mental, and Environmental & Technical Demands Fast-paced environment, multiple tasks to be handled under time constraint. Must be able to bend, crouch, kneel, and twist in the work area. Must be able to maneuver around property. Must be able to sit, walk and stand for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to operate a computer, telephone, and copier. Must have manual dexterity to operate all office equipment.
Grooming All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and / or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as part of the orientation process.
