The Domestic Operations Manager oversees our domestic trucking operations, while ensuring seamless coordination between international and domestic transportation flows. This role manages carrier relationships, negotiates rates, and supports both import/export operations with efficient first‑mile, last‑mile, and inland line haul solutions. With a freight brokerage background, this employee will develop flexible capacity, optimize margins, and ensure service reliability across air, ocean, and intermodal freight. Domestic Transportation & Operational Management

Oversee all ground transportation operations supporting air and ocean imports/exports, including FTL, LTL, and expedited shipments. Coordinate first and last‑mile delivery aligned with international cargo cut‑offs, flight schedules, ETDs/ETAs, and CFS timelines. Manage daily dispatching, routing, load planning, and shipment tracking for domestic freight. Ensure domestic transport supports customer KPIs and freight forwarding service standards. Lead and mentor dispatchers and coordinators within the department. Train teams on forwarding requirements and domestic regulations. Promote a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement. Freight Brokerage & Carrier Capacity Development

Source, qualify, and onboard trucking carriers. Negotiate rates and contracts for spot moves and regular lanes. Maintain strong carrier relationships for time‑sensitive forwarding operations. Monitor market trends to optimize buy‑rates and maintain competitive sell‑rates. Cross‑Functional Collaboration within Forwarding

Partner with Air/Ocean Import and Export teams to coordinate inland moves. Align domestic transport with customs release timelines, CFS availability, and SLA commitments. Support resolution of multimodal shipment issues, and provide proactive updates as needed. Use forwarding and TMS systems to manage bookings and shipment visibility Compliance, Quality & Documentation

Ensure carrier compliance with DOT/FMCSA requirements. Verify carrier insurance, authority, and safety ratings. Support freight audits, accessorial management, and claims. Ensure proper implementation of High Value load protocols. Financial & Performance Management

Monitor carrier invoicing and customer billing. Analyze cost performance and identify efficiency improvements. Track KPIs such as on‑time delivery, cost per mile, and detention. Qualifications

5+ years of ground transportation experience, preferably from a freight forwarding business 2+ years of prior Supervisory experience leading a team Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business preferred Freight brokerage experience with strong carrier negotiation abilities Experience supporting air/ocean forwarding operations Knowledge of inland line haul, LTL/FTL, and airport operations Proficiency with TMS / forwarding systems Familiarity with demurrage and detention processes preferred Knowledge of customs clearance processes, FTZ, and CFS operations preferred Seniority Level
