Job Summary:
Reports to Manufacturing Manager and supervises a designated shift comprised of employees engaged in the production, selection and packaging of glass vials and cartridges, and other pharmaceutical and scientific laboratory glassware. This is a 12‑hour role that will run 7PM-7AM. Essential Functions
Reviews operations of proceeding shift, including status of jobs and equipment, production schedules, job change requirements and availability of glass tubing, packing materials, and miscellaneous parts. Checks for proper machine operation, lehrs, packers, printers, and miscellaneous operations. Monitor production KPI’s (scrap, downtime, job changes, etc.) ensuring effective resource allocation and employee development to meet company targets. Coordinates daily assignments of Operator’s, Hot End Specialist’s, and Packer’s. On evening shifts coordinates and directs maintenance and quality control. Coordinates the training of new employees on all machines and processes. Involved with the daily monitoring Statistical Process Control utilizing Infinity QS on all designated processes with responsibility that process meet agreed upon dimensional capabilities for Cp/Cpk. Adheres to all quality objectives and ensures quality standards is met. Maintains production records utilizing SAP for production monitoring and verifies accuracy. Maintains time and attendance system functions for employee’s working on their designated shift including the tracking of employee attendance points. Ensures that employees comply with plant health, safety, and housekeeping requirements. Supports GMS initiative through team participation. Additional Responsibilities
Maintains open communications program with all employees. Maintains and ensures accuracy of employee time and attendance system. Cooperates internally with Plant Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Pack Room Coordinator, Hot End Specialist, Machine Operators, Selector Packers, Quality Control and Maintenance. Cooperates externally with customers, vendors and other Gerresheimer facilities. Demonstrates behavior that meets Good Manufacturing Practices, Safety and Good Housekeeping requirements. Wears safety glasses required in Production and Warehouse areas. Hair/Beard nets and lab coats required in Pack Room. Hearing protections required in machine area. Available to work any shift. Performs other duties as assigned. Education / Experience
Associates Degree in Management, Engineering, or other relevant field Three – Five years’ experience in glass production or related manufacturing experience. Experience in directing and supervising employees. Formal Qualifications / Required Skills
Excellent written and oral communications and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow established technical and administrative procedures. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite). Mechanical aptitude Statistical Process Control Able to read blueprints Use of calipers and gauges Ability to read, write, and speak English Salary Range
