Senior CAD Drafter/Designer
Job Summary
Dennis Group is looking for an experienced CAD Drafter/Designer to plan, design and implement mechanical systems for industrial food and beverage production facilities. You will work on multidisciplinary project teams and have the opportunity to practice and apply a wide range of design engineering skills.
The role requires creating drawings using CAD software in both 2D and 3D formats for mechanical, electrical, piping, plumbing, and equipment layouts. Knowledge of architectural concepts, regulations, standards, and building materials is required.
Responsibilities
Act as overall project drafter/design coordinator, coordinating with other disciplines and design firms to create a coordinated model.
Create design drawings in CAD (2D and 3D) at the direction of engineers.
Coordinate with Designers, Architects, Engineers and Project Managers to produce design drawings per project specifications.
Read architectural drawings, mechanical/electrical/plumbing drawings, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and piping plans.
Analyze available information to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete design drawings.
Ensure drawings comply with building regulations and architectural standards.
Prepare documents to a level consistent with set quality standards while maintaining project schedules.
Produce drawings for bid packages.
Contribute to developing CAD standards and best practices.
Coordinate and distribute project workload to team members.
Establish design criteria for the assigned phase of a project requiring the application of basic drafting and designing principles, material properties, and familiarity with construction, installation and maintenance procedures.
Work with clients and engineering disciplines to define requirements in the preparation of design and construction documents.
Check finished drawings against markup and CAD standards.
Review manufacturers’ or fabricators’ prints for conformance with contract specification.
Provide junior design and drafting staff with sketches, layout concepts, and technical direction to support the development of final design drawings and refinement of technical requirements.
Manage multiple tasks and meet established deadlines.
Work with BIM360, Navisworks and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), AutoCAD and Plant 3D.
Assist construction managers with coordination issues in the field.
Required Education, Skills and Experience
Associate Degree required; bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred.
8+ years of experience in computer-aided drafting and design for industrial production facilities.
8+ years of experience in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, CADWorx, Revit, Inventor or similar programs.
Experience with design of food and beverage processes a plus.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Travel Requirement
Up to 20% travel required to client construction sites and other offices.
