Job Description The Pilot Plant Technician is responsible for the cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance of the equipment in the pilot plant under a supervisor’s direction. The Technician will assist in all pilot plant activities as required by the supervisor or project leaders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Demonstrate and promote the company vision.

Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

Apply GMP/GLP principles in all areas of responsibility.

Keep the pilot plant clean, sanitary, safe, and well‑organized.

Assist in executing projects conducted in the pilot plant under supervisor direction.

Help Process Development staff with receipt of products and ingredients, storage of samples, accurate weighing, and preparation of products and samples for testing in the lab and pilot plant.

Assist with labeling, packaging, and shipping of products.

Follow appropriate SOPs, SMs, and protocols.

Maintain pilot plant equipment and documentation as required by GLP and GMP programs.

Maintain an inventory of equipment parts, laboratory supplies, and cleaning supplies.

Perform all duties with accuracy and produce quality results.

Collaborate with product and process development staff to accomplish position and business objectives.

Identify and communicate equipment and facility improvement options/issues to the supervisor.

Other tasks as assigned, which may include grocery shopping, cleaning refrigerators, and/or product and equipment storage areas.

Perform all activities safely and efficiently.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Educational Background / Minimum Relevant Experience

High school graduate or GED, with one or more years of college or technical training preferred.

Knowledge of basic mechanical repair and cleaning equipment usage.

Machine shop skills; experience in food, nutraceutical, or pharmaceutical pilot plant or manufacturing is a plus but not required.

Additional Information A salaried range for this position is between $60,000 and $65,000.

Maintain a safe and orderly work environment.

Record and review SOPs and maintain proper communication skills.

Work independently, exercise initiative and good judgment, and solve routine problems without assistance.

Safely operate propane and electric forklift trucks, climb ladders, and frequently lift, carry, and/or push light to heavy materials and stand and walk most of the day.

Flexibility to transition easily from one task to another.

Overtime and weekend work required by plant schedule.

Exposure to potential food allergens.

Must use hearing protection, eye protection, proper footwear, lab coat, hairnets, and gloves when necessary.
