We are seeking a
full-time Registered Dietitian
to support our
oncology inpatient population
at
McHenry Hospital , practicing as part of a highly engaged
regional clinical nutrition team .
This role is designed for a dietitian who
loves being a dietitian
— someone who values thoughtful patient care, clinical autonomy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based practice.
This is not a passive consult role.
This is hands‑on, high‑impact clinical nutrition.

feeding tube placement training
What You’ll Do
Manage nutrition care for the
oncology inpatient unit
Maintain a typical patient load of:
~10 patients
when not attending rounds
~9 patients
when attending rounds
Perform comprehensive nutrition assessments using
ADIME
Complete
nutrition‑focused physical exams (NFPEs)
on all nutrition assessments
Identify malnutrition using validated criteria and initiate timely interventions
Write and manage
enteral and parenteral nutrition orders , including TPNs
Collaborate closely with physicians, pharmacists, nursing, and care teams
Initiate
referrals to outpatient nutrition partners
to ensure continuity of care
Document efficiently and accurately in the
Epic EMR
You’ll be part of a
regional clinical nutrition team
that values communication, safety, and shared learning.
Daily team huddles
via
Microsoft Teams
Focused discussions on patient safety events, best practices, and clinical learning
Schedule & Flexibility (Built for Sustainability) Full‑time role includes:
When working a weekend, you’ll have
Thursday
and
Tuesday off
Required on‑unit presence: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Flexible scheduling around that core window
Examples:
6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
We actively track and improve outcomes, including:
Malnutrition identification and treatment
Completion of NFPEs
Referrals to outpatient nutrition partners
Evidence‑based nutrition interventions
Your clinical judgment directly influences these results.
Required
Minimum
1 year of clinical experience
Comfort with
enteral nutrition and TPN writing
Strong interdisciplinary communication skills
Passion for patient‑centered, evidence‑based care
Highly Desired
Oncology and/or nutrition support experience
Currently holds an
advanced certification
or interest in obtaining one (ex.
CNSC ,
CSO )
Engagement in professional organizations and clinical growth
A genuine love for clinical nutrition and patient care
Practice at the
