Licensed Mental Health Professional – Wayne County Jail – Detroit, Michigan
Full‑time position, Monday‑Friday 3:00 pm‑11:30 pm.
Pay: $33.25 – $35.00 per hour plus applicable shift differentials.
Responsibilities
Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and behavioral issues.
Document mental health evaluations, progress notes, individual and group counseling notes, treatment plans, and reports for hearings.
Collaborate with medical, mental health, and correctional staff to enhance patient care while maintaining safety.
Provide individual and group counseling, develop educational materials, and lead treatment programs.
Participate in educational and training activities for patients, security personnel, and healthcare staff.
Adhere to site‑specific policies, standards (ACA, NCCHC), and DSM‑V/DSM‑V‑TR criteria.
Qualifications
Master's degree and active, unrestricted licensure in Michigan as an LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT, LMHP, LISW, or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in mental health or acute care; correctional experience preferred.
Knowledge of mental health and co‑occurring substance use disorders, discharge planning, and psychotropic medications.
Active CPR certification.
Successful completion of criminal background check and drug screening.
Strong communication, organizational, and confidentiality skills; ability to work calmly under pressure.
Physical Capabilities Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift and move patients up to 50 lb., bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform CPR while maintaining balance and endurance throughout a shift.
