Clinic Athletic Trainer 2 - UHealth SoLé Mia Join the University of Miami as a Clinic Athletic Trainer 2 for the UHealth SoLé Mia opening scheduled for September 2025. This role supports the Orthopaedics Sports Medicine department across multiple locations, providing direct patient care under supervising physicians.

Core Job Functions

Conduct comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessment of patients with acute, chronic or potential injuries and illnesses.

Takes a thorough history including chief complaint, vitals, pain score, mechanism of injury, past medical history and review of systems.

Performs an appropriate physical examination covering range‑of‑motion testing, strength and muscle testing, neuro‑vascular and sensation testing, palpation, special and ligamentous testing, and functional testing.

Presents cases to attending physicians including any available imaging results.

Accurately transcribes, enters, and/or executes standing orders within practice limits (radiographs, MRIs, EMGs, CT scans, ultrasounds, PT, injections, braces, labs, medication, referrals).

Provides patient education on rehabilitation exercises and general care.

Fits patients with orthopedic appliances/DMEs, educates on proper use, and submits billing information to the bracing company.

Performs wound care, gait training, casting application and removal.

Removes sutures and provides dressing changes to post‑operative patients.

Aids the supervising physician with injection preparation, timeouts, informed consent signatures and supplies.

Completes surgical booking sheets prior to surgery and serves as liaison between patients, surgeons and surgical coordinators.

Communicates with patients, staff and providers regarding patient care and documents all interactions in the electronic medical record.

Assists physicians with paperwork such as medical leave forms and workers’ compensation documentation.

Maintains orderly and professional appearance of the clinic.

Filters clinic schedules based on provider‑specific criteria.

Assists with billing, insurance authorizations, pre‑authorization, retro‑authorization and appeals.

Assists with scheduling patient appointments and manages clinic closures and rescheduling.

Answers patient queries regarding outpatient procedures, post‑operative recovery and rehabilitation protocols.

Serves as preceptor, mentor and/or supervisor for students observing or shadowing Sports Medicine clinical activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

Certification in related specialty or field.

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
