The unit coordinator/secretary communicates, requisitions and manages supplies and equipment, and coordinates activities of the nursing staff, patients, physicians, other hospital departments, and visitors. The individual performs general reception and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.

Assumes responsibility for the maintenance of patient records on assigned unit.

Customer Service
Demonstrate a high level of respect, dignity, compassion, and professionalism for all customers by utilizing the four tenets of Patient Family and Centered Partnership.

Recognizes and values the contributions of fellow employees and displays cooperation and teamwork.
Resource Utilization
Reports to work on time, prepared to work, and follows hospital policies for notice of lateness/absenteeism and time off requests.
List Core Competency
List duty/task determining competency.
Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience in a professional setting with customer service responsibility preferred.
Certification by NAHUC (National Association of Health Unit Coordinators) encouraged.
