Health Director – Communicable Disease and Tuberculosis Control Nurse Coordinator The Beaufort County Health Department is committed to improving the wellness of the community through accessible, high-quality public health services and education. Responsibilities

Coordinating and implementing Communicable Disease and TB control programs in compliance with state and local guidelines.

Providing Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) to clients receiving treatment for active tuberculosis.

Conducting case investigations, contact tracing, and outbreak response activities as part of the agency’s epidemiology (EPI) team.

Ensuring accurate and timely data entry into the North Carolina Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NC EDSS) for reportable diseases.

Educating clients and the community on communicable disease prevention, treatment adherence, and health promotion.

Collaborating with local healthcare providers, labs, and public health partners.

In addition to communicable disease responsibilities, this position delivers clinical services and support across Women’s Health, Primary Care, and General Clinics as needed.

Minimum Education and Experience

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and two years of Public Health nursing experience;

Master’s degree in public health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience;

Graduation from a school of professional nursing and three years of professional nursing experience including two years of Public Health nursing experience;

An equivalent combination of training and experience.

License and Certification Requirements

A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the NC Board of Nursing;

Current CPR certification;

Valid driver’s license.
