Responsibilities The Paramedic is responsible for delivering and administering high quality care and transportation to ill and injured persons. The Paramedic must demonstrate clinical competency and compassion in providing for the physical and emotional needs of patients. The Paramedic must have excellent judgment and be able to prioritize decisions and act quickly in the best interest of the patient, must be self‑disciplined, able to develop patient rapport, interview hostile patients, maintain safe distance, and recognize and utilize communication unique to diverse multicultural groups and ages within those groups. Must be able to function independently at optimum level in an unstructured environment that is constantly changing.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Experience as a Paramedic as well as an associate or baccalaureate degree in Paramedicine preferred.
Must be proficient in English; must have the ability to read, write and speak English.
Licensure/Certification
Current certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic as well as current Minnesota and/or Wisconsin Paramedic licensure/certification.
Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification and ACLS.
Current PALS certifications or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with Mayo Clinic policy.
Registered Nurse who is also an NREMT and who satisfies Minnesota statute 144E.101 Subd. 7(a)(2) can practice to the level of Advanced Life Support (Paramedic) only within the Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service and in both the States of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Exemption Status Nonexempt
Compensation Detail Compensation range is $30.01 – $44.22 per hour based upon union contract.
