Certified Medical Assistant (2945) - Yorktown Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group (TPMG) is a physician‑owned organization comprised of over 200 physicians and advanced practice clinicians, providing comprehensive medical care. Competitive pay starts at $15 per hour.

Position Summary The Medical Assistant exudes a strong dedication to offering exceptional patient care, facilitating an efficient patient office visit experience while maintaining high quality and compassionate care.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

Perform patient intake to include medical history with accurate documentation in the electronic health record.

Patient triage to include vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, height and weight).

Perform phlebotomy and ancillary clinical kit testing and specimen collection.

Administer immunizations and a variety of injections.

Maintain temperature logs, QA processes, OSHA policies.

Ensure accurate performance of EKG’s.

Assist physician with gynecologic, surgical and wound procedures/exams.

Complete pharmaceutical prior authorizations.

Perform phone triage to include communication with pharmacies for patient medication refills.

Perform Medicare Annual Wellness Visits.

Exam room set up, cleaning, and stocking.

Electronic input of patient lab/radiology orders.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine laboratory tests.

Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to operate, clean and sterilize.

Knowledge of appropriate medical terminology to communicate with medical and laboratory staff.

Skill in operating a variety of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.

Skill in proper reporting of laboratory tests.

Skill in communicating clearly with diverse publics.

Skill in appropriately billing orders collected.

Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.

Ability to work in multiple computer systems effectively.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.

Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols.

Ability to work independently.

Education, Training, and Requirements

COVID‑19 vaccination required.

Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA, or RMA).

Current CPR or BLS certificate.
