Legacy Health
You are the first face patients see — setting the tone for a welcoming and positive experience. As a Patient Access Representative, you will use your communication skills to collect insurance and other essential information, assist patients and families in understanding their financial responsibilities, collect co‑payments, and ensure required legal documentation is obtained for state and federal compliance.
Patient Access operates 24/7. Shift length is 8–10 hours. Ideal candidates have a flexible schedule and are willing to work day, evening, night, weekends, and holidays. Full‑time training lasts 5–8 weeks.
Responsibilities
Greeting, registering, checking in, and admitting patients.
Collecting patient demographics and identifying medical providers.
Verifying insurance coverage and determining patient financial responsibilities.
Assisting patients in understanding insurance coverage and financial resources.
Providing self‑pay information and applicable discounts.
Collecting copayments, coinsurances, deposits, and payments.
Collaborating with Revenue Cycle and hospital units to ensure accurate records.
Submitting required legal documentation to meet State and Federal compliance regulations.
Qualifications Education
High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: two years of college education with Health Records coursework.
Experience
Minimum of one year healthcare experience or equivalent in Patient Access, Medical Records/Health Information, or clerical support.
Six months customer service experience.
Preferred: registrar and third‑party payor experience; understanding of health plan and benefit structures.
Skills

Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Multi‑tasking capability.
Excellent public relations and calm, succinct communication.

Knowledge of complex collection issues, multi‑payor systems, e‑coverage results.
Understanding of billing/collection, past balances, deposits, and state/federal regulations.
Knowledge of EMTALA guidelines.
Ability to communicate financial aid services and educate patients on eligibility.
Ability to enroll patients into Presumptive Medicaid services via questionnaire.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Pay Range USD $21.88 – $31.27 per hour.
