Responsibilities
Demonstrate proficiency in handling, pre‑start inspections, post‑start inspections, maneuvering skills, shut down and securing procedures.
Work various shifts in a team environment and support senior management on project execution.
Perform daily safety and operational inspections of equipment, report deficiencies and perform minor repairs.
Ensure timely maintenance of assigned equipment according to the operations and maintenance manual.
Possess a thorough understanding of equipment operation characteristics, control systems, capacity limitations and emergency response.
Maintain all safety aspects of operating heavy mobile equipment.
Climb on and off equipment safely and assist in other duties when not operating.
Lift and carry 50–80 pounds frequently, up to 150 pounds with assistance, and load materials into the bucket manually when required.
Be experienced in placing and removing TBW construction concrete barriers and loading/unloading freight trucks.
Communicate effectively and maintain situational awareness of site activities.
Maintain level grading while spreading, balancing material or recovering spoil material.
Understand graded stake procedures, load trucks up to 20, and change equipment attachments as needed.
Possess knowledge of equipment maximum capacities and electronics grade laser use.
Know utility location requirements, request logs and engage a ground man when necessary.
Ensure all employees remain outside equipment’s maximum reach and secure the machine with safety pins before abandonment.
Maintain equipment shut‑down and key removal during wash or maintenance operations.
Qualifications
Construction‑related experience: minimum 1 year for Loader or Backhoe, 3 years for Excavator or Bulldozer, or 5 years in roadway finishing work.
Required certifications or competency documentation as per industry standards and governmental agencies.
Completion of high school or secondary education preferred.
