Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens

Responsibilities
Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
If PTCB or ExCPT certified, assist and coach other pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers.
Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
Develop strong relationships with valuable customers; share customer service best practices with all team members.
Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct; adhere to company policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing.
Enter patient and drug information accurately in pharmacy systems; fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs; verify medicine is correct and check for possible interactions.
Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow; report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
Register all related sales on the assigned cash register; collect and handle cash as required; assist in locating products in the OTC aisle.
Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third‑party prescription services; perform other clerical duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager.
Assist and support medication inventory management: ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals; file claims for overages, shortages, and other discrepancies.
Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including collection and labeling of blood/urine samples and coordination of clinical services with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community through outreach and detailing efforts.
Assist in maintaining the Pharmacy Department’s appearance, ensuring a clean, neat, and orderly environment.
Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers and comply with all company policies and procedures.
Training & Personal Development
Earn and maintain PTCB or ExCPT certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration.
Attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager; acquire continuing education credits to maintain knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy.
Basic Qualifications
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer strong math skills for accurate prescription filling (counting, measuring, weighing).
Prefer good computer skills.
Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
Prefer PTCB or ExCPT certification.
