Survey Technician Fehr Graham Engineering & Environmental

Location: East Peoria, IL | Department: Civil/Municipal | Compensation: $25.00 - $32.00 / hour

What you’ll do

Conduct topographic surveys, construction layout, and GPS surveys.

Operate field surveying instruments, Trimble Total Stations, data collectors, and GPS equipment.

Gather accurate field data and notes.

Set up, operate, and maintain survey equipment.

Process and organize survey data for use in CAD.

Support land surveyors and engineering designers.

Travel to job sites in company‑provided vehicles, including some that are out of town.

Where you’ll work The position is based in our East Peoria, Illinois office.

Where you’ll be

Work outdoors in all types of weather, including hot, cold, wet, and challenging conditions.

Field work involves walking long distances, standing for extended periods, navigating uneven terrain, carrying equipment, swinging a sledgehammer, and operating maintenance holes and storm inlets.

Includes safety training and requires appropriate safety gear, which will be provided.

Includes an allowance for work boots.

What it takes

Associate degree in Surveying or Civil Engineering Technology is a plus but not required.

Professional experience desired; recent graduates with a strong willingness to learn are also welcome.

Knowledge of land surveying practices, field procedures, and terminology.

Experience with total stations, GPS, and data collectors.

Willingness to work hard, be reliable, and work in the field daily.

Valid driver’s license.

Strong analytical and organizational skills.
