Job Description ABM urgently seeks an Assistant Facilities Manager to oversee facility operations across multiple locations, ensuring safety, asset protection, and client relationships. The role requires a proactive problem‑solver with business acumen and technical expertise to manage complex systems, particularly gate systems, improving accessibility, optimization, and security.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and assist in managing day‑to‑day operations of critical infrastructure facilities.

Oversee a team of Facility Coordinators, Chief Engineers, Workplace Experience Coordinators, technicians, handypersons, and vendors.

Act as the single point‑of‑contact for facility‑related issues, managing customer relationships, schedules, new business, projects, budgets, expansion, and staffing.

Supervise and coordinate ABM’s response to after‑hours emergencies.

Conduct regular inspections and audits of facility systems and operations for regulatory compliance.

Support design and implementation of maintenance strategies ensuring safety and efficiency.

Develop, plan, and execute annual shutdown programs for preventive maintenance.

Monitor HVAC, electrical, mechanical, BAS, BMS, and fire protection systems to identify issues, implement corrective actions, and resolve problems.

Manage budgeting for operations and maintenance, including forecasting and estimating repairs and improvements.

Coordinate with, vet, and approve all subcontractors and vendors to schedule maintenance and repairs.

Ensure work adheres to high‑quality standards and complies with safety, hazardous‑material, and documentation policies.

Train and develop operations staff in maintenance, safety, and troubleshooting.

Lead sustainability initiatives to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs.

Qualifications Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience (desired but not required).

3–5+ years in mission‑critical operations environments (preferred).

3–5+ years of facility management, plant operations, engineering, or maintenance supervision experience.

5+ years electrical or mechanical experience (preferred).

Experience generating cost savings through continuous‑improvement activities (preferred).

Technical Skills

CMMS experience (e.g., 360 Facility, Maximo, Corrigo) – required.

Building Automation System (BAS) experience – preferred.

Proficiency with facility‑management software, Google Suite, and related tools.

Knowledge of regulations, codes, permits, and standards for electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum or similar collaborative tools (a plus).

Soft Skills

Strong understanding of facility‑management principles.

Excellent organizational, planning, and documentation skills.

Strong verbal and written communication with all levels.

Excellent interpersonal, report‑writing, and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Proven budget and personnel management experience.

Strategic thinking, adaptability, mentorship, and team‑building abilities.

Critical‑thinking and data analytics to support decision‑making.

Certifications & Licenses (Desirable)

CPMM, CFM, or other relevant certifications.

Ability to obtain certifications within 6–12 months if not already certified.
