Job Summary Account Managers perform routine responsibilities and serve as primary points of contact for clients. They are individual contributors with occasional guidance from supervisors. Account managers apply insurance principles to everyday situations and develop coverage strategies and plans.
Responsibilities
Perform daily service tasks per agency procedures, including account transactions such as quote and issue policies, ID cards, proposal endorsements, certificates, claims, renewals, follow‑up, and correspondence.
Respond to client inquiries, incoming mail, and company request needs in a timely manner.
Conduct insurance marketing and sales.
Collect renewal data on assigned accounts.
Provide claims support.
Develop coverage strategies and plans as needed.
Review new/renewal policies and endorsements to ensure items were received as ordered.
Maintain accuracy of client data in the agency management system (Applied Systems / EPIC).
Document all activities in the agency management system.
Utilize upload, download, and interface technology.
Assist other departments in securing or providing information needed to issue appropriate policies for mutual clients.
Keep Producers informed of all important activities on their accounts.
Keep current with industry trends, attending educational seminars and classes to improve insurance/sales skills and maintain license compliance.
Maintain knowledge of current underwriting requirements of contracted carriers.
Understand policy provisions and any changes.
Complete other functions and assignments as assigned, including back‑up duties.
Requirements
Active Property & Casualty license.
Strong organizational skills and ability to discern priority.
Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Mathematical skills: ability to calculate premiums, commissions, discounts, etc.
Reasoning skills: solve practical problems, interpret instructions, deal with variables.
Experience with Applied Systems / EPIC is a plus.
Knowledge of insurance principles applied to everyday situations.
Education/Experience
High School diploma required; Associate Degree or higher preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial lines.
CPCU or special training course completion is a plus.
Candidates Should be comfortable with on‑site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross‑functional partnership.
