The
Database Administrator IV
provides database administration for Microsoft SQL Server, Epic Cache, Oracle, and related components such as Reporting Services, Analysis Services, and Integration Services. Responsibilities include administration, replication, backup/restore procedures, and support for databases outside of SQL. Usually assigned larger, more complex jobs than lower levels, the role demonstrates extensive knowledge of all aspects of Database Administration.
This position is ERP focused (PeopleSoft experience, and possibly Workday experience). It is hybrid: onsite in the Edison, NJ office up to 50% of the time.
Responsibilities
Take ownership of problems through to resolution over a wide variety of systems and technologies.
Ensure internal database systems are managed to the highest standard by following industry best practice.
Perform work with a high degree of latitude.
Handle the most complex issues.
Demonstrate problem management, ownership, and prevention of downtime.
Provide mentoring, guidance, and oversight to less experienced staff in database design, administration, and modeling activities.
Consult with and advise senior management and multiple clients on high-impact data or database management issues, influencing strategic direction.
Lead various large-scale or highly complex data/database management activities, including design of logical and/or physical databases, complex data modeling, mapping, integration, and capacity planning efforts.
Develop management policies, procedures, and standards and conduct business requirements analysis and development.
Contribute to the development of existing and new IT processes and procedures to enhance service transition and service operation lifecycle stages.
Identify areas of improvement and take action to address service-impacting issues.
Provide operational support for the Epic Cache/Oracle/Windows/SQL Server database environment.
Perform database backup/restores, daily checks, maintenance tasks, and build new database instances and apply service packs.
Manage and escalate problems, investigate defects, work with infrastructure and external vendors to identify solutions, and support any required fixes as part of service improvement.
Follow Change Management procedures and other standard practices in installing, configuring, and supporting databases and related items in Test and Production environments.
Ensure service uptime is prioritized and all faults, incidents, and problems are responded to efficiently without negatively impacting SLAs and reporting metrics.
Upgrade or maintain software at times that minimize business impact.
Other duties and/or projects as assigned; adhere to HMH's organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s level degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Math, Computer Science, or related field, or 4‑year equivalent relevant experience.
Expert knowledge of subject matter.
Minimum 6 years of experience (or 10+ years if no degree).
Analytical, communication, adaptable, and flexible skills.
Experience with Windows Server Operating Systems, security concepts, PCI & PHI understanding.
Active Directory, Group Policy, DBS, DHCP & DFS. Enterprise storage, enterprise‑scale patch management, and related maintenance methodologies.
Knowledge of network principles, protocols, and technologies.
Experience with Epic Cache, Cogito, Oracle, SQL, and other database platforms, backup & recovery, including disaster recovery.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient computer skills including Google Suite and Microsoft Office platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
Eight years of experience.
Prior healthcare experience.
Compensation & Benefits HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good‑faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act. The final base compensation is determined at the time of offer and may differ based on market data, experience, education, certifications, location, internal equity, and budget considerations.
Some positions may also be eligible for performance‑based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Eligibility for shift differentials for evening, night, or weekend work may apply.
In addition to full‑time and part‑time (20+ hours per week) compensation, HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits. Minimum base rate is $131,144 annually.
