Job Summary Under direction, supervise and work with mechanics performing maintenance and repair work on district automobiles, trucks, buses, power lawn mowers, and other mechanical equipment and attachments; coordinate the maintenance of automotive parts inventory and submit requests for parts to the Supervisor of Transportation; assure vehicles are inspected and serviced as scheduled and required by law; perform related work as required.
Requirements / Qualifications
Knowledge of tools, lubricants, equipment, and procedures used in service, inspection, overhaul, repair, and adjustment of gasoline and diesel powered equipment and of fuel, ignition, electrical, cooling, and braking systems.
Principles of shop organization and supervision.
Operation and care of internal combustion engines and of parts and replacements.
Safe working methods and procedures.
Ability to perform maintenance and repair work on district automobiles, trucks, buses, power lawn mowers and other mechanical equipment and attachments, including complex or varied tasks.
Work Schedule Transportation Department – Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.
