Focus on Pipeline Conveyance Design / Pump Stations design. Take your career to the next level by helping our clients solve their most complex pipeline and conveyance challenges. At CDM Smith you’ll work with a diverse, dynamic team applying the latest technologies to analyze, assess, rehabilitate, renew, and expand critical water, sewer, stormwater, process, and chemical conveyance systems. Responsibilities
Design
– Create and sign off on basic to highly complex engineering designs for conveyance systems, including drawings and technical specifications for pipelines, storage tanks, turnout and diversion structures, collection and distribution systems, treatment plants, and pump stations. Hydraulic Modeling
– Apply hydraulic modeling techniques and tools to support the design and analysis of conveyance systems including surface hydrology, pressure and gravity piping systems. Site Design Activities
– Contribute to facility location, grading, and paving plans. Inspection & Assessment
– Inspect and condition assess existing systems, make recommendations for rehabilitation or replacement, and develop pipe rehabilitation projects for bidding. Pipe Materials Knowledge
– Understand different pipe materials and apply trenchless construction methods. Compliance & QC
– Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and standards, develop permitting plans, applications and coordinate with City Departments for work in the right-of-way, building and construction, and implement rigorous quality processes and ensure compliance with firm standards. Client & Business Development
– Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs), meet with current and potential future clients to review their design needs, and submit technical papers and attend conferences to improve visibility of the firm's products and services. Mentorship & Team Leadership
– Contribute to the firm's knowledge management by developing white papers and technical design documentation, provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff, mentor and develop for future growth, and supervise the work of junior engineers on project work. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; Professional engineering (PE) license; 7 years of related experience; Domestic and/or international travel may be required; Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
