Overview Beontag North America is seeking a Product Development Engineer to drive the development, scale-up, and optimization of pressure-sensitive adhesives and silicone-based formulations for our Graphics & Label Materials division. In this role, you will lead technical projects from concept through manufacturing, improve material performance, reduce costs, and ensure products are designed for high-quality production on gravure coating technologies. Working closely with R&D, Production, Quality, and supplier partners, you will leverage deep polymer and analytical expertise to solve complex challenges, guide material and process decisions, and support continuous improvement across a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Lead scale-up of products by leveraging coating process and adhesives formulation expertise.

Develop new pressure sensitive adhesives using scientific methodologies and principles.

Identify opportunities for cost reduction by optimizing raw material usage, improving process efficiency, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Optimize silicone-based formulations to enhance performance, reduce variability, and ensure compatibility with manufacturing processes.

Apply scientific methodologies to distill fundamental learnings and principles governing material and product performance.

Offer subject matter expertise related to gravure coating of adhesives.

Translate customer and market needs to technical deliverables.

Design products fit for manufacturing on gravure coating technologies with a focus on quality.

Create and execute technical project plans for delivering new products, technologies, and technical capabilities.

Evaluate processes to understand critical material transformations and make informed material decisions.

Characterize materials to relate fundamental material characteristics to target performance characteristics.

Recommend and guide material and process changes based on market, quality, and operational requirements.

Support site safety requirements and work in a manner to promote a safe and healthy work environment.

Direct work of junior engineers and laboratory technicians to ensure best outcomes.

Qualifications

Degree in Polymer or Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Material Science or related areas of study.

Expertise in physical and analytical polymer chemistry techniques and data interpretation.

Approximately five (5) years of experience working in manufacturing or production environments, with regular interaction with cross-functional teams such as R&D, Production, and Quality.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in leading cross-functional development projects.

Excellent laboratory hygiene and methodologies.

Five (5) years pressure-sensitive or adhesive coating technology experience.

Familiarity with polymer characterization, coating technologies, and process simulation tools.
