Summary
This position handles accounting assignments with a high level of complexity and requires a solid understanding of financial accounting in an operational environment. The accountant helps lead the general ledger, revenue process, and decision support team through monthly financial reporting at the subsidiary and corporate level, as well as the annual budget process and monthly financial performance reporting for assigned cost centers. In addition to daily and monthly tasks, there will be high‑profile special projects with time‑sensitive deadlines and a level of interaction with Children’s executives. The candidate demonstrates critical thinking skills by challenging the status quo, identifying opportunities, and proposing creative solutions as issues arise. This candidate possesses qualities, abilities, and leadership traits moving toward a career path in management.
Full‑time, 40 hours per week
Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Hybrid (onsite 2–3 days per week)
Responsibilities
Develop, communicate and execute general ledger accounting processes; maintain and support subsidiary work.
Work collaboratively with staff from different departments, including revenue cycle, IT, and decision support.
Collaborate with the executive team as needed.
Track and manage monthly reconciliation of revenue and charges.
Help facilitate month‑ and year‑end close, including account reconciliations, monthly and period‑end closing, ad‑hoc reporting and analysis, and year‑end audit schedules.
Plan, coordinate, and execute an annual budget development and lead forecasting process; actively track key metrics for special projects.
Conduct accounting research as needed for new or more complex accounting transactions.
Interact with external auditors on a routine basis.
Other duties as required.
Technical Expertise
Ability to function proactively and independently at a high level in a technical and demanding environment.
Must possess excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills, and be able to communicate proactively and effectively with all levels of management.
Demonstrate strong organizational and time‑management skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Advanced Excel, Word) or similar software and ability to use an ERP computerized system.
Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; Master’s degree is preferred.
Certification: CPA is preferred.
Experience in healthcare is preferred.
Five years of accounting experience including financial reporting (internal or public account) is required.
