Human Rights Coordinator – AHRC Nassau
Coordinates the day-to-day operation of the Human Rights Committee; ensures timely review of consents by the Committee chair and ensures distribution to the team on approval. Maintains the Human Rights database.
Primary duties and responsibilities
Acts as the Point of Contact for the agency Human Rights Committee; contacts those involved on the person’s team (BIS, RN, Residential Staff) to gather information needed for the review and ensures this information is communicated to the Committee to ensure an efficient review process and communicates/distributes approved consents to the team.
Maintains the Human Rights database including the tracking of consent dates and timely entrance of required information (reviews) into the database.
Manages the Human Rights agenda ensuring all consents, whether routine or emergent, are placed on the agenda; takes and enters minutes for the Human Rights Committee review.
Coordinated the Safety Screening Questionnaire process by gathering all needed information and coordinating with the team to ensure Safety Checklists are completed and placed on the agenda for Human Rights review.
Provides support to the Psychiatric Screening Questionnaire process by gathering all needed information and coordinating with the team to ensure Safety Checklists are completed and placed on the agenda for human rights review.
Provides Human Rights information during audits and as requested for oversight agencies.
Develops and provides training regarding the Human Rights Committee process as needed.
Qualifications
BA/BS in a related field required; Clinical experience preferred.
3 years’ experience working in the ID/DD field.
Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills required. Computer proficiency required.
