Position Summary
The Materials Planner / Production Planner is responsible for coordinating production schedules and material requirements to support on-time delivery, efficient inventory levels, and uninterrupted manufacturing operations. This role works closely with purchasing, production, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure materials availability aligns with customer demand and production capacity. Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules based on customer demand, forecasts, and capacity constraints Plan and manage material requirements to support production schedules and minimize shortages or excess inventory Coordinate purchasing activities, including placing purchase orders, tracking supplier deliveries, and expediting materials as needed Monitor inventory levels and recommend actions to maintain optimal stock levels Communicate schedule changes, material constraints, and risks to production, purchasing, and management teams Analyze MRP/ERP data to identify gaps, shortages, and planning opportunities Collaborate with suppliers to improve delivery performance and resolve material issues Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, and inventory control Prepare reports on production status, inventory levels, and material availability Qualifications
2+ years of experience
in production planning, materials planning, scheduling, and/or purchasing Experience
within a manufacturing environment is required
(automotive or automotive supplier experience strongly preferred) Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field
preferred Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally Seniority level
