General Statement:
The ultimate goal of all Salvation Army programs is spiritual regeneration of all people.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and implement daily operations of the After School Program.
Ensure children are met each day at the bus stop and escorted into the building.
Plan and prepare for daily schedule, rotating between educational and recreational activities.
Prepare and present weekly Bible Devotions.
Work with staff and volunteers to deliver a quality learning experience.
Maintain a healthy and safe environment for children.
Maintain on‑going communication with school officials and parents to ensure we are meeting the individual needs of each child in our program.
Recruit, coordination, training and supervision of volunteers.
Oversee the administration and maintenance of facilities, materials and equipment utilized by the After School Program.
Adherence to all Salvation Army Policies and Procedures including Protecting the Mission.
Maintain and update student and family contact information.
Generate reports as needed, including monthly statistics.
Maintain supply inventory and order replacement supplies as necessary.
Summer planning for the school year, participating in Vacation Bible School and other special summer assignments.
Promote the Ministry and Mission of The Salvation Army.
Perform other duties as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Mature in the Christian faith.
Minimum of two (2) years experience working with children in a high‑energy Christian ministry capacity. One or more of the following preferred: Sunday School Teacher, Youth Group Leader, Day Camp/Summer Camp Counselor, Christian School Teacher, VBS Leader.
Degree or classes toward a degree in Christian Education, Youth Ministries or related field preferred.
Capable of meeting the physical and mental demands of the position.
Able to pass a background check, have a clean driving record and obtain a commercial Class B driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Possess strong leadership skills.
Ability to set and enforce defined boundaries and behavior expectations a must.
Possess excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
Ability to effectively solve problems and mediate conflict.
Flexibility and willingness to be a part of a team.
Ability to set priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability and willingness to keep information confidential.
Ability to read and interpret documents, rules, instructions, and procedures.
Ability to complete certification in Protecting the Mission policies and procedures.
Software‑Related Skills
Microsoft Word and Excel required.
Microsoft PowerPoint, helpful.
Lotus Notes, helpful.
Familiarity with or ability to learn and administer the DORA - Diagnostic Online Reading Assessment program.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist and climb stairs on an intermittent or continuous basis.
Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
Ability to operate telephone.
Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Ability to access and produce information from a computer.
Ability to understand written information.

The benefit is 40 hours of Paid Leave for qualifying events.
Sick Leave:
12 days of Sick Leave annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after three months' service time.
Paid Vacation:
Two weeks annually, accruing from day one, for non‑exempt positions. Four weeks annually, accruing from day one, for exempt positions. Accrued vacation is eligible for use after six months' service time.
Paid Holidays:
13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year.
