BevMaxGames
Game Designer | Creative Systems Builder | Turning Concepts Into Immersive Player Experiences
Bevmax Games is a small, independent studio focused on building bold, personality-driven games. Our current title, MECHSHELL, is a fast-paced, chaotic multiplayer action game where players defend the Overgrown Realms as S.H.E.L.L., a weaponized snail. The game emphasizes readability, expressive characters, and playful chaos across lush, trap-filled biomes.
We’re a tight-knit, remote team building toward a full commercial release. We value ownership, clear communication, and people who think beyond their individual discipline.
The Role We’re looking for a 3D Artist to take ownership of 3D asset quality and visual consistency across MECHSHELL. This role is designed for an experienced artist who’s comfortable making high-level visual decisions while remaining hands‑on in production.
You’ll work closely with animation, design, and engineering to ensure assets are expressive, performant, and gameplay-ready.
Responsibilities
Own the creation and quality bar of 3D assets across characters, creatures, props, and environments
Define and maintain visual consistency, scale, and style across the game
Create game-ready, optimized assets with strong silhouettes and readability
Collaborate with animators to ensure assets support expressive motion and rigging
Partner with designers to align visual assets with gameplay mechanics
Review and provide feedback on 3D assets created by collaborators or contractors
Prepare assets for Unreal Engine, including LODs and optimization considerations
Identify and resolve visual or technical asset issues early in production
Who You Are You’re a 3D artist with a strong understanding of real-time game pipelines and production realities. You think in terms of player perspective, performance constraints, and how art supports gameplay. You’re comfortable making decisions, giving feedback, and helping raise the overall visual bar of the project.
You’re not looking for busy work; you want meaningful ownership and visible impact.
Requirements
5+ years of experience creating 3D assets for games or real-time applications
Strong modeling fundamentals (form, proportion, topology, silhouette)
Proficiency in tools such as Blender, Maya, ZBrush, and related workflows
Solid understanding of real-time asset optimization
Experience preparing assets for Unreal Engine or similar engines
Ability to self‑direct, scope work, and meet agreed‑upon deadlines
Strong communication skills in a remote, collaborative environment
Nice‑to‑have: Experience with stylized or character‑driven art styles
Familiarity with modular environment workflows
Basic texturing or material creation skills (Substance or hand‑painted)
Experience collaborating closely with animators and technical artists
Interest in creature‑based, expressive, or slightly comedic designs
Compensation: deferred compensation
Scope aligned to ensure contribution and compensation are fair and transparent
Benefits
Official credit on MECHSHELL
Portfolio‑defining work implemented in a live game
Direct collaboration with design, animation, and engineering
Meaningful influence on the game’s final visual quality
This role is best suited for artists who believe in the project and want real ownership in a shipped indie game.
Time Commitment Flexible, part‑time involvement (typically 10–20 hours per week), depending on scope and production needs.
