Summary The Quality Control Inspector ensures products meet the company’s quality standards, assists in developing and enforcing manufacturing processes, and inspects and tests trucks from work in progress to finished product.
Responsibilities
Inspect in‑process production of vacuum trucks, confirm specifications, conduct visual and measurement tests, and communicate required adjustments to the production supervisor.
Inspect finished products, confirm specifications, conduct visual tests, return products for re‑work, and confirm re‑work completion.
Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re‑work and waste, and inputting data into the quality database.
Monitor production areas to ensure all manufactured products or parts meet the necessary production standards.
Compare products with bill of materials and sales release to confirm completion of assembly.
Interpret engineering drawings/diagrams and collaborate with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
Select products for tests at specified stages in production and test for dimensions, performance, and mechanical characteristics.
Operate diagnostic equipment required for the job.
Assist the test bay manager with truck testing and act as backup when the manager is unavailable.
Help production diagnose issues on trucks.
Suggest design and location changes that improve truck function.
Qualifications
Proven experience in conducting quality inspections.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills.
Ability to influence and motivate others.
Attentive eye for detail.
Strong problem‑solving skills to analyze issues, detect root causes, and resolve all issues.
Excellent time management, planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
Self‑motivated with solid interpersonal skills and an achievement orientation.
Knowledge of Health and Safety standards and their workplace implications.
Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Travel This position does not travel.
Education & Experience
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
Experience building custom trucks is preferred, but not required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations This position requires a valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands The role requires standing, walking, crawling, stooping, and reaching. Frequently lifting or moving up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds. Requires clear visual inspection and verbal or written communication skills.
Work Environment The work environment is usually moderate to loud with vehicle shop equipment and activities. Employees work inside a non‑climate‑controlled building.
