Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA)- Rotational- Inpatient Oncology
Department: James – Inpatient Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant
Scope of Position The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides health care services to patients within the parameters of a standard care agreement with an attending physician at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The APP collaborates with physicians and other clinicians to deliver a full scope of patient care, focusing on preventive health or the management of acute and/or stable chronic conditions. Medical services performed are those authorized and directed by the credentialing and certifying bodies for which the APP holds licensure.
Position Summary The APP offers health care services in collaboration with a licensed physician, providing care during acute and chronic illness phases, patient and family education, counseling, health promotion, prevention, and referrals to other healthcare providers or community resources as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications • Current certificate of authority to practice as an APRN in the State of Ohio and graduation from a Nurse Practitioner program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the national certification examination recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
Master’s degree in Nursing required.
• OR • Master’s degree in a qualifying program and graduation from a PA‑C program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Eligibility for State of Ohio licensure as a PA‑C.
• 1 year of acute care or hospitalist experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Primary patient management, including pre‑rounding, daily multidisciplinary rounds, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and imaging studies, prescribing medications and treatments, and evaluating treatment responses.
Writing admission orders, documenting admissions, discharging patients, and managing all changes in clinical status.
Collaborating closely with Oncology Hospitalists and Medical Oncologists.
Providing care on the solid tumor oncology treatment service, managing patients on inpatient chemotherapy and clinical trials.
Shift & Work Hours Rotating shift: 12‑hour days and nights, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with a portion of night work throughout the year. Rotational and nocturnal allowances are paid for working these variant schedules.

Position Type: Regular
Scheduled Hours: 40 hours per week
