Behavioral Health Specialist
MedStar Health is looking for a Behavioral Health Specialist to join our team at inpatient units in our Baltimore area hospitals. The role involves providing therapeutic interventions, assessment, evaluation, disposition, and independent clinical decision making for patients presenting with psychiatric concerns in the Emergency Department.
Primary Duties
Complete documentation and ensure adherence to documentation standards, data collection, reporting, and legal paperwork.
Coordinate admissions and referrals to inpatient psychiatric units and external resources.
Serve as liaison among MedStar inpatient psychiatric units, outside agencies, referral sources, and insurance for high‑level care.
Manage aggressive patients, recognize early warning signs, and provide crisis assessments.
Communicate with physicians, nurses, community resources, and provide support to ED staff.
Qualifications
Master's degree in psychology, social work, or related field.
Licensed Certified Social Worker - Clinical (LCSW-C), or Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC), or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Ph.D.
1-2 years’ experience in the assessment and disposition of behavioral health disorders preferred.
Compensation USD $61,838.00 – USD $111,259.00 /yr.
