Correctional Officer – Gadsden Correctional Facility
Management & Training Corporation is seeking a Correctional Officer for the Gadsden Correctional Facility in Quincy, Florida. The position reports to the designated sergeant and is responsible for the custody and discipline of inmates while complying with ACA standards, MTC policies, FDOC and DMS directives.
Compensation & Schedule Pay: $23.46/hr. Full‑time, 8‑hour shifts: 7:00 am‑3:00 pm, 3:00 pm‑11:00 pm, 11:00 pm‑7:00 am.
Location 6044 Greensboro Highway, Quincy, Florida 32351 (Gadsden Correctional Facility).
Key Responsibilities
Search for contraband and maintain facility security.
Count, provide meals, and supervise inmates in housing, work, and other areas.
Observe and maintain secure custody, including climbing stairs, and extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
Perform security functions such as pat and strip searches, requiring squatting and bending.
Transfer and transport inmates, restraining and securing assaultive inmates as needed.
Prepare and maintain records, forms, and reports.
Review inmate records for health and safety relevant information and apply it properly.
Perform duties in commissary, property, transportation, education, food service, recreation, escort/roving, mailroom, laundry, visiting room, booking, mobile patrol, main control, law library, housing, special management area, and intake.
If assigned to food services, instruct inmates in safe, hygienic meal preparation per pre‑planned menus.
Respond to emergencies: search for inmates, administer first aid, carry injured or unconscious offenders, and perform use‑of‑force procedures, including chemical agents and firearms according to policy.
Comply with all policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Work overtime when directed.
Promote positive social skills through modeling and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
Maintain accountability of staff, inmates, and property; adhere to safety practices.
Complete other duties as assigned within capabilities as determined by management.

Education & Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalent, completion of the basic recruit training course for correctional officers. Must be eligible for or possess a current employment Certificate of Completion for Correctional Officers meeting Florida Department of Law Enforcement standards. Valid Florida driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
Post‑Hire Requirements Must successfully complete annual in‑service training.
