Position Summary The Teller is responsible for performing member banking transactions, providing education on banking services available, and communicating banking products to members.
The role covers deposits, withdrawals, and other financial interactions while successfully maintaining an outstanding level of member service and safeguarding branch assets.
Duty & Responsibilities
Demonstrate Wellby Core Values every day.
Engage members upon entry by welcoming them and managing lobby traffic.
Identify changes in members’ financial situations and recommend suitable solutions.
Assist members with online and mobile banking transactions.
Process cash deposits and withdrawals, verify signatures, and support vault security.
Enter all transactions into the bank’s record‑keeping system and produce member receipts.
Verify and process checks, money orders, drafts, and travelers’ checks.
Balance cash drawers at shift end and verify daily inventory of cash items.
Implement procedures for the Bank Secrecy Act, submit reports of unusual activity, and maintain compliance schedules.
Maintain a secure work area and adhere to all branch security policies.
Perform any additional teller‑related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic mathematics and customer‑service aptitude.
Knowledge of bank security procedures and fraud prevention techniques.
Familiarity with business English, spelling, and grammar.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and associated banking tools.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks.
Integrity, trustworthiness, and a strong sense of accountability.
Flexibility to adapt to a fast‑paced environment and support other branches when needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None.
Complexity & Scope of Work
The role involves routine teller functions with occasional non‑routine issues delegated to a supervisor.
Directions are generally provided as established procedures, with decisions made by the Branch Manager.
Performance is reviewed regularly for accuracy, compliance, and completeness.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Stationary work up to 50% of the time; standing for extended periods.
Typical office tasks, including computer use, reaching, and occasional light lifting up to 25 lbs.
Moderate noise environment; periodic interpersonal or phone interactions may be stressful.
Work Hours
Shifts may be staggered between 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. CST and include weekends.
Overtime may be required based on business needs.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous cash handling experience.
Preferred: 1+ year in member service, financial services, or similar retail role.
Experience with direct public interaction.
Flexibility to support additional branches.
Bondable.
