Twin Cities Wellness Center & Recovery Gym (TCWC) is seeking dynamic, high-integrity Counselors to join our innovative, whole-person recovery program in the Twin Cities metro area. We are looking to hire for two distinct roles: an LADC Counselor and a higher‑tier Dual‑Licensed Co‑Occurring Counselor. The ideal candidate will be available for full‑time work; however, we are willing to consider part‑time or contract proposals. This position reports to the Counseling Supervisor.

This position reports to the Counseling Supervisor.
We are hiring at two levels based on licensure and scope of practice:
Counselor I: LADC
Requires current LADC (or 148F exemptions)
Scope of Practice - SUD Treatment (245G)
Counselor II: Co‑Occurring
Requires current LADC and MHP (LICSW, LPCC, LMFT, or LP)
Scope of Practice - Integrated SUD/Mental Health Treatment & Diagnosis
Essential Duties (Applicable to Both Tiers)
Deliver individual and group counseling, case management, treatment, and education to clients.
Perform Substance Use Disorder Assessments, including Comprehensive Assessments, Summaries, and associated documents, and make appropriate diagnosis that meets DSM‑5 criteria.
Document all interactions in the EHR in a timely manner.
Ensure the Treatment Planning Process is completed within specified timeframes and comply with all required reporting internally and externally.
Maintain relationships with clinical supervisors and treatment referral partners.
Protect patient privacy in accordance with all laws (HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2) and TCWC policies.
Comply with all administrative procedures and policies of TCWC.
Specific Duties for Counselor II (Co‑Occurring, Dual‑Licensed)
Conduct and complete independent Mental Health Diagnostic Assessments (MHDA) to establish DSM‑5 mental health diagnoses.
Provide fully integrated counseling and treatment planning for co‑occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
Assist in supervising student interns or temporary licensed individuals in both SUD and Mental Health disciplines as appropriate.
Conduct psychological tests as license and training allows.
Qualifications
Licensure (REQUIRED): Must possess at least a current LADC issued by a Minnesota licensing board. For the higher‑tier Counselor II role, an additional MHP license (LICSW, LPCC, LMFT, or LP) is REQUIRED.
Experience: 1+ year of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders (Preferred).
Compliance: Familiarity with MN Statute 245G, 245A, 626.557, 260E, and associated rules.
Must be free of problematic substance use for at least the two years immediately preceding hiring and sign a statement attesting to that fact.
Must be 18 years of age or older and able to pass a background study.
Strong interdisciplinary communication skills, computer skills (MS Office, EHR experience plus), and counseling skills.
Condition of Employment (MN Compliance)
Background Study: Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a background study required by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (MN Statute 245C). A disqualification may result in a denial of employment or termination.

Lifting/Moving: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
