Position Highlights
This position requires you to work in both Pierre and Aberdeen, SD. Prior Sleep Lab Tech Experience is highly desired.
A Brief Overview
Provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education.
What You Will Do
Follows procedural protocols (such as Multiple Sleep Latency Tests, Maintenance of Wakefulness Tests, parasomnia studies, PAP, oxygen titration, etc.) to ensure collection of appropriate data.
Performs polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free and make adjustments if necessary.
Documents routine observations including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
Implements appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and bi‑level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.).
Scores sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines.
Scores clinical events (such as respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements, arousals, etc.) according to center‑specific protocols.
Evaluates sleep study related equipment and inventory.
Involved in performing outreach sleep studies.
Essential Qualifications
The individual must be able to work the hours specified and perform each essential job function satisfactorily. This includes having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties, and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
Registered Polysomnographer Technologist – Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) within 1½ years
Respiratory Therapist – Licensing Board within 1½ years
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
