Registered Respiratory Therapist – Days

Responsibilities
Administers a wide variety of therapeutic services and diagnostic tests to various patient types
Sets up all equipment and supplies needed and provides assistance to physicians during special procedures
Performs assessments and re‑assessments of patient history, chest X‑rays, vital signs, blood gases, progress notes, etc. to determine appropriate therapy modalities or effects of conscious sedation and communicates this to the physician (does not apply to DME)
Performs arterial punctures or blood gas analysis for arterial blood gases (does not apply to DME)
Performs intubation as needed or requested where credentialed and approved by the medical staff (does not apply to DME)
Provides onboarding education to new departmental staff and assists students rotating through the hospital INTEGRIS Durable Medical Equipment (DME) department only
Schedules patient appointments for PAP therapy
Maintains all necessary documentation and ensures all required documentation is available for PAP therapy
Communicates DME respiratory equipment education to patients
Downloads PAP therapy results on a routine basis
Maintains inventory of all PAP therapy equipment
Continues to seek education on all PAP therapy guideline requirements and changes
Reports to the assigned supervisor and is accountable for performance metrics and quality measures
Consults with the Physical Demands Project SharePoint site or Risk Management/Employee Health for additional information on varied physical demands or respiratory fit test requirements
Faces moderate exposure to hazardous risks, including potential for exposure to infections, communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, and chemicals
Faces potential for bodily injury related to lifting and workplace violence; must follow universal safety precautions
Is exposed to constant interruptions, noise, disagreeable odors, and assorted chemicals
May have multiple floors assigned per shift
May be required to be on call status

Qualifications
Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 30 days of hire
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 60 days of hire
Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
