Job Information Location: Department of Children's Services, TC/TL - Child Programs Division, Lewis County Prior to employment, a Motor Vehicle Records screening will be conducted and a criminal background check is required. Applicants must provide information about their criminal history to be considered for this position.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
Master's degree in social work or a related behavioral science field with a child or family focus and 3 years of full-time professional child welfare case work, including social, psychological, or correctional counseling, case management, volunteer services coordination for a children's service program, or juvenile classification coordination.
OR Bachelor's degree with 5 years of full-time professional child welfare case work, including the same areas of experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age on the date of application;
Be a citizen of the United States;
Possess a valid driver's license prior to and during employment;
Have a good moral character, as determined by investigation;
Complete a criminal history disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority;
Have no conviction for a felony;
Agree to release all records involving their criminal history to the appointment authority;
Supply a fingerprint sample in a manner prescribed by the TBI for a fingerprint-based criminal history records check;
Submit to and pass a pre-employment screening test for use of illegal drugs.
Overview This classification is responsible for professional case management supervisory work of average difficulty and performs related work as required. It is the first full supervisory class in the DCS Case Manager job series. Key responsibilities include supervising staff who provide case management services for children under the State's supervision, in State custody, or at risk of State custody, and their families.
Responsibilities
Assist case managers in determining abuse or neglect, risk level, and safety plans; recommend permanency, reunification, or termination of parental rights.
Assign cases and provide performance feedback; analyze data and track child welfare outcomes using TFACTS, SharePoint, and Excel.
Participate in multidisciplinary teams, interpret policies, and guide colleagues.
Coach subordinates on case needs, resource allocation, and safety.
Conduct case conferences, provide guidance, and ensure proper documentation.
Monitor assessments for quality case management and document discussions.
Create and communicate regional data reports for state and federal compliance.
Work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and after hours; schedule appointments and transport children safely.
Communicate effectively with families and service providers; build trusting relationships and facilitate permanency.
Make referrals to service providers and collaborate with law enforcement and multidisciplinary teams; train foster and adoptive parents.
