Position Summary

Oversee the overall function of the nursing shift ensuring a quality, respectful environment for the residents. Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Organize, supervise and evaluate resident care including overseeing the function of the respective shift Review verbal information and written documentation from previous shifts. Communicate resident updates with physicians, families, nursing team and other departments, as necessary. Prioritize needs of residents. Assist with admissions, discharges, transfers, deaths, as appropriate with the respective shift. Assist with physician orders/reviews, nursing assessments and care planning. Address staffing issues as they occur. Address resident, family, staff, vendor concerns as they arise. Assist with staff education/training, as needed or directed, and provide counseling and coaching as needed. Assist with performance evaluations on the respective shift for the nurse aides and nurses. Maintain communication between staff and Director of Nursing and department heads by attending meetings, trainings, and through email, phone, or in person. Participate in wound assessments and care. Assist in regulatory based tasks (including resident matrix updates, audits, etc) as assigned. Position Requirements

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Experience

Minimum: 1 year experience specific to long term care or 2 years nursing experience. Preferred: 3 years experience with 1 year long term care supervisory experience.
