Responsibilities

Care of Scrub Areas and Clean Utility Rooms: Replenish and arrange scrub brushes, hoods, caps, masks and booties; maintain cleanliness of shelves, counters and utility carts.

Maintain Blood Bank and Drug Refrigerators: Check and record temperature daily; defrost and clean weekly; verify stock levels.

Maintain Solution and Warmers Cabinets: Replenish blankets, gowns and sheets; clean warmer cabinet daily; distribute instrument sets and supplies to proper storage.

Care of Special Surgical Equipment, Instruments and Supplies: Monitor par levels, replenish stock, keep the Surgicounter clean during room turnover.

Care of Soiled Utility Rooms: Keep shelves, drawers and counters orderly; replenish specimen containers, disinfecting solutions and cleaning supplies.

Routine Specimens: Document in the marble book and log book when specimens are sent out of the specialty area.

Frozen Section Specimens: Transport frozen section specimens immediately to Pathology, stamp the form and notify the pathologist.

Specimens for Radiology: Take specimens to the Radiology Department for X‑ray, then to Pathology for frozen section after X‑ray completion.

Transport the pre‑operative patient to the holding area or surgical suite; assist in patient positioning and safety.

Assist with maintaining cleanliness of the Operating Rooms and environment; clean positioning equipment and follow OR cleaning protocol after each procedure.

Assist in gathering and setting up supplies and equipment, placing necessary furniture and equipment in the OR.

Qualifications

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience Requirements: Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Compensation The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $18.56 – $18.56 hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
