Job Summary The paramedic will work on UK ambulances and in the UK Chandler and Good Samaritan emergency departments. Duties include responding to emergency calls on the UK medical campus, conducting long‑ and short‑distance interfacility transports, specialty transports with ventilators, IV pumps, and other equipment. Daily operational tasks include checking equipment, ambulance maintenance, and supporting nursing in the emergency department (administering medications, charting, monitoring patients, performing other patient care tasks within the Kentucky scope of practice).
Responsibilities
Respond to emergency calls on UK medical campus
Conduct interfacility ambulance transports (short and long distance)
Manage specialty transports using ventilators, IV pumps, and other equipment
Check equipment and perform ambulance maintenance
Assist nursing staff in the emergency department (medications, charting, monitoring, patient care tasks)
Complete proper documentation and charting
Physical Requirements This position requires regular standing or walking with objects up to 10 pounds, lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 pounds, intermittent lifting or pulling over 50 pounds, standing or walking with objects up to 25 pounds, sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods, repetitive motions such as typing, working in confined spaces, traveling less than 10% of the time, exposure to injury risk, temperature extremes, hazardous chemicals, radiation, burns, cuts/punctures, blood‑borne or airborne pathogens, and confrontations with combative or violent individuals.
Shift & Schedule Must be able to work three 12‑hour shifts per week (1845‑0715). Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, swing. Work weekends and holidays as required.

Valid Driver’s License
Nationally Registered EMT (NREMT)
American Heart Association (BLS)
ACLS
PALS
Preferred Education/Experience High School diploma or higher and three years of paramedic experience preferred. Current Kentucky Paramedic certification or licensure.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Clinical care experience (monitoring vital signs, inserting IVs/NGTs/urinary catheters)
Assistance with 12‑lead EKGs, wound care, suctioning
Proper documentation skills
