Overview The program coordinator for the Cystic Fibrosis Pediatric Care Center provides professional leadership, management and oversight of the clinical, scholarly and educational activities of the Center in collaboration with the Medical Director. Responsibilities include overseeing Center performance improvement projects and processes consistent with Cystic Fibrosis Foundation accreditation requirements, being accountable for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Center and U.S. News and World Report performance goals, and providing assistance in delivery of patient care for the center patient population. The coordinator models appropriate behavior exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

What You Will Do

Coordinates clinic visits with Cystic Fibrosis patients and families and serves as clinical resource for the education needs of patient/family.

Responsible for pre‑screening patients’ care plan prior to clinic visits to determine any needed labs/tests.

Tracks clinical metrics as measured by Cystic Fibrosis and U.S. News and World Report.

Oversees newborn screen process and sweat testing and implements infection control practices within the center.

Contributes to the evaluation, planning, development, and implementation of MHM operations and MHS goals and objectives while coordinating and developing policies, procedures, processes and projects for the assigned area.

Assures a mutually respectful environment between the interdisciplinary team, meets regularly with the care team to assure high quality patient care, and provides formal and informal education opportunities for members of the care team. Attends and facilitates interdisciplinary team members’ attendance at annual Cystic Fibrosis conference to maintain knowledge and competence in Cystic Fibrosis. Serves as direct contact for pharmaceutical representatives and other vendors.

Coordinates the Cystic Fibrosis Pediatric Care Center accreditation visits and grant applications with the Center Medical Director. Coordinates with Center Medical Director for the Le Bonheur Cystic Fibrosis center accreditation as well as the visit for the affiliate Cystic Fibrosis center in Chattanooga.

Oversees the Cystic Fibrosis Patient Registry ensuring data accuracy and collaborates with the CFF Medical Director and the interdisciplinary team to develop programs, goals and objectives and plans to achieve them.

Education Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree Nursing

Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy

Bachelor's Degree Nutrition

Master's Degree Social Work

Experience Qualifications

Clinical

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of equipment and resources utilized within the Cystic Fibrosis population.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.) and electronic medical record.

Ability to utilize the CFF registry tool.

Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills, including spelling and correct grammatical structure.

Strong oral communication skills to effectively convey information and guide team activities.

Ability to assess a situation, seek multiple perspectives, and, if necessary, gather more information to arrive at an appropriate solution for both patient care and project management.

Ability to effectively utilize data and implement changes based on findings.

Ability to develop solutions to complex problems, which require ingenuity, creativity, and innovativeness.

Ability to understand and prepare moderately complex written materials.

Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.

Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of workflow.

Licenses and Certifications

Registered Nurse Tennessee – Tennessee Board of Nursing

Registered Respiratory Therapist – Tennessee – Tennessee Board of Respiratory Care

Dietitian‑Nutritionist Tennessee – Tennessee Board of Dietitians/Nutritionist Examiners

Licensed Master Social Worker Tennessee – Tennessee Board of Social Workers

Supervision Provided by this Position

There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this position.

Physical Demands

The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.

Must have good balance and coordination.

The physical requirements of this position are: light work – exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.

The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.

The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
