The Office of Engaged Learning encourages students to take their education beyond the classroom. This includes study away programs, internships, precepting, Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) courses, and more! The Engaged Learning Facilitator (ELF) Program is a growth opportunity for students who are enthusiastic about promoting a culture of engagement on campus. ELFs serve as ambassadors for the Office of Engaged Learning and take part in the mission to advocate for students at NCC to take their education beyond the classroom. ELFs gain valuable applied experience by serving as liaisons between faculty, students, and external community partners to facilitate the initiatives of Engaged Learning (EL).

Responsibilities

Assist faculty members with integrating best practices for CEL courses and providing support within the classroom.

Compile information for the creation and distribution of the Engaged Learning Newsletter.

Update social media platforms for Engaged Learning with upcoming events and highlights of EL initiatives.

Network with other offices on campus, student leaders, and external community partners on EL projects.

Participate in weekly team meetings to discuss upcoming events and tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled as a North Central College student or will be enrolled for Fall 2022.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Strong presentation and interpersonal communication skills.

Familiarity with using social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Twitter, Facebook).

Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with students, staff, faculty, and community partners.

Commitment to making a difference in campus and local communities.

Awareness of and dedication to social issues.

Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

Eligible for Federal Work Study

Previous enrollment in Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) courses
