Job Summary Lead, supervise, and manage Instructional Technology Support team. Assist the team in providing guidance for instructional technologies and provide consulting, training, and support in the use of both existing and emerging technologies. Provide instructional technology and design support specifically related to multimedia for online, face-to-face, and hybrid courses. Develop and facilitate instructional technology and multimedia training for faculty focusing on online and face to face learning pedagogy.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology, instructional design, or related discipline and 6 years’ professional work experience; or Associate’s degree in information technology or a related field and 8 years’ professional work experience; 10+ years professional experience and certifications will be considered in lieu of degree.

3 years’ experience supervising technical staff.

Experience supporting customers who utilize learning management systems, lecture capture services, web collaboration tools and other instructional technology tools.

Exceptional organizational and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and professionally within a fast-paced team.

Strong manager of people, effective communicator, and efficient project manager.

Ability to be detail oriented while independently managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and assignments.

Demonstrated skills in good customer service and customer relationship management.

Experience in staff supervision including training, and delegation of duties, cross-training staff to create a team environment.

Experience in providing training, documentation and resources to a user community.

Experience with enterprise-level software support and IT service management best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology, or other related discipline.

Experience teaching in K-12 or higher education.

Essential Functions (Percent of Time)

50% Leadership, Planning, Development and Outreach

Provide leadership in the area of instructional technology and the integration of technology into the teaching process. Identify barriers to technology use and recommend realistic strategies for overcoming those barriers. Lead, supervise, mentor and coordinate the work of technical staff. Monitor work queues of team to ensure timely and effective solutions are provided for instructional technical support in accordance with established best practices. Oversee the strategy and direction related to Wright State’s learning management system, lecture capture services, web conferencing technologies, and other instructional services supported by the Instructional Technology team. Work collaboratively with the Center for Faculty Excellence and Wright State Online teams with the planning, development, and enhancements of instructional technology tools.

35% Technical Support and Application Administration

Consult, advise, and support customers via phone, email, or in person, in the effective use of instructional technology applications used in distance learning, hybrid, flexible delivery, and face to face teaching. Serve as an escalation point for the LMS administrator and Instructional Technologists supporting a variety of academic technologies and tools utilized by Wright State faculty and students. Support the integration of classroom and educational technologies with teaching and learning pedagogies. Consult with faculty, both pedagogically and practically, in the development and successful delivery of quality flexible and blended courses. Work with faculty to identify impactful instructional technologies, both hardware and software, inside and outside of the classroom, and the application of best practices through course development, building, delivery, quality assurance, and preparation of materials.

15% Training and Development

Serve as functional expert for training and training development for instructional technology. Develop, deliver, and lead innovative and compelling training programs for current and future Wright State instructional technology services. Target training needs based on service management data, input from help desk staff, as well as the Center for Faculty Excellence and Wright State Online teams to ensure training is aligned with current needs.
