Position Per Diem Residential Assistant (St. Bridget’s Residence Shelter)

Location Newark, NJ

Agency Overview Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is one of New Jersey’s largest non‑profit social service agencies with programs and facilities serving Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Union counties.

Job Summary St. Bridget’s is comprised of a shelter, a transitional living facility, a permanent housing program and a drip‑in center that seeks to ensure safety and build stability in the lives of homeless men and women living with HIV/AIDS.

Responsibilities

Carry out designated services in the shelter and monitor the activity of residents and visitors to ensure program policies and safety parameters are maintained.

Provide residents with supplies as needed and answer telephone calls in a professional manner.

Supervise and secure all building areas, and respond quickly and appropriately to crisis situations to safeguard all participants.

Accurately complete all required program documentation, including program logs, statistics tracking sheets, incident reports, and work orders.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and 1–2 years of related experience preferred.

OR 3 years of experience working with the homeless population if no high school diploma or GED.
