Radiation Safety (Quality Compliance)
Quality develops and implements quality policies, procedures, and processes to ensure products and services comply with regulatory standards and specifications. The Radiation Safety Department is responsible for the development and deployment of policies, procedures and programs designed to minimize risk using the ALARA principles and maintain compliance with national and international regulatory bodies.
Shift/Schedule
Weekend Shift
Friday - Sunday 7am - 7pm
Must be flexible with work schedule if needed
Responsibilities
Research regulatory issues to ensure compliance with appropriate local, state and federal regulatory agencies (NRC, DOT, EPA, etc.)
Coordinate and ensure compliance with daily, weekly and monthly EH&S and radiation safety tasks.
Identify facility safety training needs and develop and coordinate safety training programs.
Lead and facilitate safety committee meetings to engage employees in improving the safety culture.
Provide technical support to facility personnel to ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and health and radioactive material regulations.
Review and lead injury/illness and non-injury incident investigation reports and follow up as necessary.
Perform audits and inspect the facility to ensure compliance with company, local, state and federal regulations.
Participate and respond to investigations of environmental health incidents and emergencies and recommend appropriate corrective actions when needed.
Identify possible solutions to a variety of technical problems and take actions to resolve them.
Coordinate all aspects of the environmental health safety management program.
Develop the emergency response procedures and act as the site’s emergency coordinator.
Identify potential safety hazards related to radioactive and non-radioactive materials and document these using the Cardinal Health risk assessment program.
Provide support and subject matter expertise for events (e.g., regulatory agency inquiries, natural disasters, business continuity, significant incidents, etc.).
Inform the Manager, RSO/EHS when situations require follow-up actions.
Perform other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
2-4 years of experience, preferred
Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
Experience handling radioactive material
Knowledge of EHS procedures / Waste Management
2 or more years of professional experience in an EHS or Radiation Safety role, preferred
Experience in EH&S: Hazard Waste Compliance, laboratory safety and manufacturing safety, preferred
Familiarity with EHS Management Systems and their successful implementation, preferred

Receive general guidance and may receive more detailed instruction on new projects
Work reviewed for sound reasoning and accuracy
Anticipated salary range $68,500 - $88,020
