VP of Market Sales
Salary Range
$110,000 – $145,000 / year
Position Summary
The VP of Market Sales will execute local market-specific sales strategies guided by the VP of Regional Sales, collaborating with the Retail sales team and Business Unit to drive profitable sales. Market Sales VPs own and manage all local market-specific DSD sales activities, maintaining close contact with Route Sales Directors. They continuously seek growth opportunities through key customer interactions, coach and train RSDs on customer relationship development, and maintain consistent communication with Regional Sales VPs to provide insights on local successes and improvement areas.
Responsibilities
Execute sales strategies based on guidance from VP of Regional Sales and VP of Division Sales
Work cross-functionally with bakeries on product quality opportunities, delivery dispatch, and other issues impacting the sales department
Partner with RSDs to execute local sales plans and pursue profitable new business to achieve period and annual goals
Maintain close contact with VP of Regional Sales, providing updates on performance and competitor activity to align sales plans with business needs
Ensure RSDs follow fundamentals (displays, customer relations, time schedule, callbacks, space, position, and distribution)
Assist RSDs in selling and provide industry standards and best practices for achieving plan execution
Use digital products and the Go Spot Check (GSC) tool to monitor units, dollar sales, margin, and stale, driving business performance
Provide guidance, direction, and assistance to RSDs to achieve profit goals and comply with policies and procedures (customer service, equipment, vehicle, warehouse, recruitment, retention, orientation, training, discipline, safety, record keeping, EEO, etc.)
Conduct weekly meetings with RSDs to discuss performance against perfect store execution
Coach and mentor RSDs in using available information to professionally present information to customers and employees, blending Flowers goals with customer/employee goals
Interact with and visit key customer accounts when assigned to build rapport and increase selling opportunities
Maintain contact with other Market Sales VPs and Retail Team to stay informed on cross‑regional activity and share key successes contributing to overall sales growth
Partner with Human Resources to develop succession plans, employee development, engagement, and retention programs
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in general management or sales
Past experience as Area Sales Director preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Sales or Business Administration preferred
