Assistant City Attorney / Senior Assistant City Attorney – Civil Division
The City of Kent is seeking an experienced attorney to join the Civil Division of the Kent City Attorney’s Office. Responsibilities
Represent the City in civil matters, advising on legal issues that impact the community.
Conduct legal research and prepare opinions, memoranda, and briefings for city leadership.
Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, ordinances, and municipal agreements.
Collaborate with other city departments to ensure legal compliance and efficient government operations.
Provide counsel on matters such as land use, environmental regulation, and public safety.
Qualifications
Bar admission and good standing with the Washington State Bar Association.
Prior civil legal experience, with a preference for municipal law.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
Five (5) years or more of municipal civil legal experience qualifies the candidate for the Senior Assistant City Attorney position.
