What You’ll Do
Maintain control of the institution to provide safety and security of the facility, inmates, staff, and the public by enforcing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Supervise and direct inmate activity in assigned areas of the facility/institution.
Ensure the assigned area is clean, safe, and secure.
Monitor and operate security controls, equipment, and computers.
Operate automotive vehicles for perimeter security and transportation of inmates.
Conduct inmate counts, security rounds, and searches.
Complete required reports and serve on committees.
Prevent escapes or incidents that threaten security.
Use physical force, unarmed self‑defense, firearms, or other force when necessary to detain or secure inmates.
Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D. with a valid driver’s license for transportation‑related duties.
Successful completion of the correction officer assessment within the past 24 months, or current ODRC employee already certified.
Probationary period of 365 days.
Strong communication, observational, situational awareness, ethics, and teamwork skills.
Compensation & Scheduling Step 1 salary: $24.16 per hour, moving to Step 2 $24.86 after 6 months. Additional $0.60 per hour for 2nd or 3rd shift. Full‑time position.
Work Location Warren Correctional Institution, Lebanon, Warren County, Ohio, United States.
