Responsibilities and Duties

Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast and friendly customer service.

Assists customers by making product suggestions.

Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in‑store intercom announcements and one‑on‑one customer interaction.

Answers and responds to incoming calls appropriately, receives and appropriately resolves customer complaints, and reports to the Store Director as needed.

Rotates and discards outdated or spoiled product, and ensures cleanliness of the work area and department.

Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays.

Ensures that merchandise is correctly priced and displayed, and that shelves are clean and properly maintained.

May be asked to assist in other areas of the Grocery Department.

Follows and maintains department standards and requirements.

Applies working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.

Ensures proper code dating for all products within the department is enforced.

Assists with physical inventory conducted every six months.

Controls inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness, maintaining inventory levels per division directives; stocks and rotates product.

Supervises the processing of all reclamation and maintains orderly and in‑stock conditions in the back room and all Frozen Food Department area.

Manages shrink and cost control.

Implements correct product preparation techniques and operates related equipment such as pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machine.

Performs receiving duties, including breaking down loads, verifying orders with invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking and rotating product; adheres to product temperature and storage guidelines and follows proper packaging techniques. Processes administrative paperwork and maintains accurate department records.

Accurately completes, maintains, and monitors daily log sheets, sales, labor, and other required paperwork and logs.

Ensures that proper temperature levels for product are maintained and complies with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, and company code‑dating policies.

Complies with all workplace safety rules and regulations.

Ensures safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of work area, cooler, equipment, and display area, including code‑date compliance as required.

Implements emergency procedures in the event of equipment and computer software malfunctions.

Operates computer software and electronic ordering devices to order product.

Complies with and ensures compliance with company grooming standards and dress code.
