Medical Assistant - Mobile Medicine - Health on Wheels (Bilingual Russian/Spanish/Slavic Preferred)

Description At Elica Health Centers, we share a common goal: provide the best possible patient care to our growing community! Our Mobile Medicine program, Health on Wheels, serves hard‑to‑reach populations and underserved students at select schools, delivering services to those who cannot visit a standing clinic due to transportation, language, homelessness, or other barriers.
What You'll Do
Check in patients, complete registration, and run insurance verification.
Perform routine clinical and administrative tasks while supporting Medical Providers and licensed professionals.
Collect assessment data under a Medical Provider’s direction and maintain smooth patient flow while adhering to HIPAA confidentiality.
Prepare exam rooms, clean and stock between patients, and participate in daily huddles.
Take vitals accurately, take patient histories and allergies, reconcile medications, and input information into the EHR.
Assist with exams and procedures, including administering injections and diagnostic referrals.
Complete standing orders such as TB skin tests, CLIA waived tests, and other HEDIS or CHDP requirements.
Document immunizations and lab results in the EHR and maintain required logs.
Perform diagnostic and laboratory tests including audiometry, EKG, spirometry, urine dipsticks, and others as directed.
Manage full registration in a timely manner, including scanning intake packets, insurance cards, and IDs.
Solve intake and registration questions, refer to Eligibility Workers, and verify eligibility when necessary.

Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program.
At least 6 months to 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
Current BLS/CPR certification.
Knowledge of procedures within the scope of a Medical Assistant.
Prior HIPAA compliance training and demonstrated knowledge.
Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and clinic equipment.
Strong customer‑service skills reflecting Elica’s values of respect.
Bilingual Russian, Spanish, or Slavic preferred.
Additional Requirements
Current and valid California driver’s license with proof of personal auto insurance for the vehicle used during work hours.
Proof of required immunizations (Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella & Tetanus), tuberculosis clearance, and COVID‑19 vaccination status for external hires; position subject to criminal background investigation and drug screen.
Compliance with California Department of Public Health mandates, including COVID‑19 vaccine orders.
Physical Requirements And Work Environment The clinic environment requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and reaching with both hands. Employees may need to lift or move up to 20 pounds. Clear vision (close and distance) and hearing are required for communication. Quiet work environments are typical; reasonable accommodations can be made for disabilities.
Compensation $21.00 – $27.30 per hour, dependent upon experience.
